poem: hush little baby
Wednesday, June 18th, 2008originally written 02.13.01
hush little baby
don’t you cry
not to worry
we all die
no pot of gold
no jeanies wish
will save you
from the devil’s dish
so live your life
in a blaze of glory
and let the next generation
tell your story

poem: control in life
Thursday, June 12th, 2008originally written 10.23.01
control in life
is just an illusion.
all that I’ve found
is a state of confusion.
the faster we run,
the slower we move.
running a race
with nothing to prove.
the money, the power
the sex, and the drugs.
a new set of jugs, and
a few more hair plugs.
taking and taking,
with nothing to give.
where does it end?
who will forgive?

poem by maya angelou
Friday, August 10th, 2007Pretty women wonder
where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit
a fashion model’s size
but when I start to tell them,
they think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
that’s me.
I walk into a room
just as cool as [...]
the fiddler of dooney by w.b. yeats
Monday, March 5th, 2007When I play on my fiddle in Dooney,
Folk dance like a wave of the sea;
My cousin is priest in Kilvarnet,
My brother in Moharubuiee.
I passed my brother and cousin,
They read in their books of prayer;
I read in my book of songs
I bought at the Sligo fair.
When we come at the end of time,
To Peter sitting in [...]
poem: i once knew what i wanted
Tuesday, February 27th, 2007originally written on 01.18.01
I once knew what I wanted
and for who it was I cared
but fate has opened doorways
and step through them I have dared
now the passage ways are hidden
and the future clouded smoke
because I chose to listen
when the voice inside me spoke
darkness scares the child
that within me use to sleep
for then I knew some [...]

I keep thinking blue

dixon is the blues
blue eyes
blue skies
blue sea
blue me
blue under my nails
blue lips
when randy was in london he saw a painting called “blue”. just a canvas painted blue. he claimed to hate this painting, but when he came back to america, all [...]
poem: i laid in my morning bed all day
Monday, February 5th, 2007originally written on 04.21.01 (it matched my mood today)
I laid in my morning bed all day
a comatose mess under the covers
my tranquil dreams linger long
like the warm embrace of lovers
my sleepy eyes are slow to wake
this heart feels renewed desires
the sheets are sweaty soaked
in recalling passion’s fires
my body aches in solitude
for another’s touch I crave
my [...]
