My favorite bad guy
By vrtualme | May 16, 2008
Los Angeles born actor Danny Trejo turns 64 today. You may not recognize the name, but there is no mistaking that face or the large tattoo of the sombrero wearing lady across his chest. Trejo has made almost 100 appearances in movies and on television in the last eight years alone. Mostly playing the heavy, some of his most memorable roles were in Con Air (1997), Heat (1995) and Desperado (1995).
Second cousin to Robert Rodriguez, Trejo has also had parts in a majority of his films. But that’s not how he got his start in the biz. Being an ex-convict and drug addict, Trejo cleaned himself up in the 70’s and became a counselor and role-model to others. He was discovered while visiting a sponsor on a movie set. Seems his rugged exterior was just what they were looking for at that moment; and this chance meeting launched an amazing career that hasn’t slowed down yet.
No stranger to camp, here’s the fake trailer he filmed for the grindhouse movies…

I have always like Trejo. I am looking forward to seeing what they do with Machete.
