review: the brave one (2007)
By vrtualme | September 25, 2007
Jodie Foster (two time Oscar winner) turns in yet another amazing performance in The Brave One (2007). Reminiscent of her part in The Accused (1988), she plays a victim reluctant to just sit back and accept what has happened to her. Doing fine jobs supporting her are Naveen Andrews (“Lost” 69 episodes, 2004-2007) as her ill-fated boyfriend, Terrence Howard (Oscar nominee for Hustle & Flow 2005) as the cop who befriends her and Mary Steenburgen (Oscar winner for Melvin and Howard 1980)
as her well-meaning but tough boss. While watching this I thought it could have been a pretty good indie flick, what pushes it over into blockbuster status is when she goes after a big name criminal. But the ending is unique and quite the surprise. Though could we expect anything less coming from director Neil Jordan who shocked audiences with his Oscar winning movie The Crying Game (1992)? here’s the official website.
