review: 3:10 to Yuma (2007)

By vrtualme | September 25, 2007

First go here to read my preview write-up of this movie.

Currently living in Yuma, AZ there was no way I was going to miss seeing 3:10 to Yuma (2007). As noted in my preview, this film does not take place in Yuma. The name comes from the fact that they want to send Russell Crowe’s character to the Yuma Territorial Prison, which is pretty much our only landmark. As for the movie itself, it doesn’t disappoint. It’s a good character study, teaching that people are much more complex than the simple titles we put on them. Logan Lerman (The Butterfly Effect 2004) turns in another great performance, reminding me of a young Christian Slater (Heathers 1989). He might make it onto my “ones to watch” list if he keeps this up. Everyone else gave kick-ass performances too. And other than desperately needing baths, there’s some nice eye candy for the girls. Because I already posted the trailer on my site, I’m giving you a clip of Lerman talking about the movie and his character…
