review: rise – blood hunter (2007)
By vrtualme | September 14, 2007
First off let me direct you to the “preview” I wrote up on this movie back in July. Read that and watch the trailer, than return to this page.
I guess I’ll keep this rather short and sweet. Though “Rise” has a few corny flaws, over all it’s a pretty good movie. An LA Weekly reporter goes undercover to investigate cult groups. She stumbles upon a bloody murder scene and attracts the attention of the wrong people. But Sadie Blake (Lucy Liu - Lucky Number Slevin 2006) won’t go down without a fight. And seeing her kick ass is rather fun. Also funny is this disclaimer in the end credits “The persons portrayed in this motion picture are not intended to portray or represent any particular individual at LA Weekly.” Like anyone would believe this was a true story. Because I’ve already posted the trailer on my site; I thought I’d give you a glimpse of the opening scene. This should keep the boys happy…
