preview: 3:10 to yuma (2007)
By vrtualme | August 15, 2007
The movie that finally puts Yuma on the map wasn’t even filmed here. 3:10 to Yuma (2007), due for wide release next month, was filmed entirely in New Mexico. This remake of the 1957 classic of the same name is about a proud citizen and family man (Christian Bale - Batman Begins 2005) that promise to get a prisoner (Russell Crowe – Oscar winner for Gladiator 2000) to Yuma, Az to face justice for his crimes. Only problems are that Crowe’s gang, being lead by Ben Foster
(“Six Feet Under” 23 episodes, 2003-2005), is determined to rescue him. While Bale’s son (Logan Lerman - The Number 23 2007) is determined to follow them. It’s all a question of what truly makes a man. Surprisingly, getting screenplay credit is Halsted Welles who wrote the original. This gives me hope that this film may have a few interesting twists in it. Welles has written for some really great television shows in the past, including “Night Gallery” (5 episodes, 1971-1973), “Kraft Suspense Theatre” (4 episodes, 1964-1965), “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” (6 episodes, 1959-1962) and “Suspense” (15 episodes, 1949-1952). Rounding out the cast are Peter Fonda (2 time Oscar nominee for Ulee’s Gold 1997 and Easy Rider 1969) and Gretchen Mol (The Notorious Bettie Page 2005). Directing is James Mangold (Sundance Film Festival Special Jury Prize winner for Heavy 1995). Imdb doesn’t list an official website for this film.
post-note: mom came through with the official website for this film. thx mom :)
