review: underdog (2007)
By vrtualme | August 10, 2007
“There’s no need to worry, Underdog is furry!” Wait, that’s not right. Anyway, Disney’s big summer movie this year is Underdog (2007). Jason Lee (“My Name Is Earl” 2005-2007) and Amy Adams (Oscar nominee for Junebug 2005) give voice to the hero himself and his fluffy friend Polly. Playing the evil Dr. Simon Barsinister is Peter Dinklage (The Station Agent 2003) with Patrick Warburton (“Less Than Perfect” 2003-2006) as his less than brainy assistant, Cad. Rounding out the cast are James Belushi (“According to Jim” 2001-2007) and Alex Neuberger (Running Scared 2006) as the father and son who give underdog a home. The legend of underdog makes a pretty good transition from cartoon to live action under the helm of director Frederik Du Chau (Racing Stripes 2005), whose past experience has only been with animated movies. I did laugh a lot, and got a bit of a warm fuzzy feeling while watching this film. But for those who see only a limited amount of movies, you’d be better off spending your money on Transformers (2007). The official website hosted by Disney has lots of games and such for the whole family.
