Getting limited release today is the winner of the Sundance Cinematography Award, Joshua (2007). The tale of the perfect family, with Joshua (Jacob Kogan) the seemingly perfect child. But with the arrival of a new sibling, Joshua’s darker interests begin to surface. I’m getting a distinct The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea (1976) feeling here, but I’ll have to wait till I see the film before I’ll know for sure. Portraying the perfect parents are Sam Rockwell (Confessions of a Dangerous Mind 2002) and Vera Farmiga (Sundance special jury award winner for Down to the Bone 2004). Also Michael McKean (This Is Spinal Tap 1984) costars. The director (George Ratliff) and writer (David Gilbert) have almost no other credits to their names, so it’s anyone’s guess what direction this story may take. We could be seeing the start of a new blockbuster duo here. There’s no official website, but here’s the trailer…
