Today marks the 6th anniversary sense the death of the Ramones’ 6’ 8” front-man Joey Ramone. The Ramones were named the second-greatest band of all time by Rolling Stone magazine (behind the Beatles). Most of my memories of Joey are from his appearance in Rock ‘n’ Roll High School (1979), but they have always stuck with me. It’s my understanding that ‘the godfather of punk’ was beloved by everyone he met; and still every year they hold a huge party in New York for his birthday.
