preview: the glamorous life of sachiko hanai (2003)

In honor of bush visiting Yuma today, and because it’s just too weird to ignore, I’m bringing your attention to a Japanese soft-core porno that’s getting limited release in the us this week. Hatsujô kateikyôshi: sensei no aijiru (aka the glamorous life of Sachiko hanai) is the story of a call girl who finds a cloned finger of George w. bush; and develops special powers after getting shot in the head. The tagline here is “an anti-bush sex film by Mitsuru Meike.” And it also calls itself “not your everyday existentialist - surrealist - action - comedy - porno.” I’m sure this is one of those odd films that will become a cult-classic not for the sex, but for the laughs.
