birthday hurt

By vrtualme | March 20, 2007

Today marks the 57th birthday of William hurt. A man who has starred in so many of my favorite movies. Movies like Altered States (1980), Body Heat (1981), The Big Chill (1983), Gorky Park (1983) and Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985; for which he won an academy award). Oh, I had such a wild crush on this man for years. I’ve watched the big chill so many times I could recite every line in the film.

So far in his career Hurt has received Oscar nominations for his roles in Children of a Lesser God (1986), Broadcast News (1987) and A History of Violence (2005). he has given strong performances in such movies as Syriana (2005), The Village (2004), Lost in Space (1998), Dark City (1998), Michael (1996), The Doctor (1991) and A Time of Destiny (1988) among so many others. And he is fluent in French, appearing in French films like Au plus près du paradis (aka Nearest to Heaven 2002) with Catherine Deneuve, Un divan à New York (aka A Couch in New York 1996) with Juliette Binoche and Bis ans Ende der Welt (aka Until the End of the World 1991) with Sam Neill.

Yet, all the titles mentioned above are just a taste of a long list you can find here. And he is still adding to that list all the time, with four movies already set for release this year. This man is a work horse; and I’m so glad for that. “I am not going to live forever. And the more I know it, the more amazed I am by being here at all. I am so thrilled by the privilege of life.”

happy birthday mr. hurt!!!
