dakota fanning officially a teen
By vrtualme | February 23, 2007
Happy birthday Kota! Little Dakota fanning turned 13 today. I guess I can’t really say ‘little’ anymore, imdb lists her at 5’2” (only 2 inches shorter than me). In her short lifetime this amazing actress has already been in 17 movies, and made guest appearances in 13 television series. Jealous much? If not yet, than you will be after reviewing her list of leading men. Sean Penn in I am Sam (2001), Denzel Washington in man on fire (2004), Robert De Niro in hide and seek (2005) and tom cruise in war of the worlds (2005).
Dakota has most recently been making headlines regarding a movie named Hounddog (2007). There’s been lots of controversy over her rape scene in the film. Interestingly, the people making all the fuss are the ones that haven’t seen the movie yet. From what I understand the scene is only about 45 seconds long, and apparently is a very small part of the overall story line. As for Dakota’s maturity in understanding the part; the girl learned to read at 2 years of age. I’m afraid the bad press will have a greater effect on her than the scene itself. Anyway, check out this post on bodog beat, for what she had to say about the part.

Happy 13th, Dakota. :)
All the controversy over Hounddog is nothing but an excuse for these far right religious nutjobs to attack a young girl and her family over their choice to tell a story about a rape victim. These people are more threatened by sex than violence, which should tell you a lot about their mental health (or lack thereof). Some of these idiots even seem to think that Dakota’s career is now finished, despite the fact that she’s currently attached to three separate projects following Hounddog.
Well I sat more power to ya, Dakota! I hope you continue to work with controversial indie projects and develop your already formidable talent.
