Canadian born character actor Michael ironside, beloved by 80’s sci-fi fans (including me), turns 56 today. Ironside was first noticed by audiences when playing the role of Darryl Revok in David Cronenberg’s cult classic ‘scanners‘ (1981). He has sense made a real name for himself in big budget sci-fi films like total recall (1990), Highlander II: The Quickening (1991) and starship troopers (1997). And given us some memorable performances on the small screen as well, in classics like v, tales from the crypt and the outer limits. During his 30 year career he has never lacked work opportunities; always maintaining an attitude of “screw the future, let’s get on with here and now. You don’t know how long it’ll last.”
